The Netherlands - EDM, Big Room
Dutch-born Nick van de Wall alias Afrojack first started his career on Crete in 2006. Here he also released his first single "F*ck Detroit". In 2007 Nick started to perform under the name Afrojack. Through own tracks like "Pacha on Acid" and "Bangduck", as well as collaborations with David Guetta, Madonna, Beyoncé and Pittbull Afrojack's popularity increased. In 2014 Afrojack released his album "Forget The World". He got support from Matthew Koma, Sting, Chris Brown and Snoop Dogg as singers for his songs. The album features tracks like "Illuminate" (feat. Matthew Koma) and "Dynamite" (feat. Snoop Dogg) as well as "As Your Friend" with Chris Brown and the remix "Sovereign Light Café" by Kean, "Ten Feet Tall" with singer Wrabel and "The Spark" with Spree Wilson. In 2015 Afrojack released an EP with three tracks under the synonym NLW. The music style is unusual for Afrojack as it is a very bass-heavy house.
On 19 March 2018 he released the song „2012“ under his pseudonym DJ Afrojack, which was created in collaboration with Ravitez and is based on the big room style as it sounded in its beginnings between 2012 and 2013. Only two weeks later another single with that project was released. It was called Started and was produced together with D.O.D and Tim-Ber. The EP Press Play was finally released on August 28, 2018. The term EP was dropped in this case by magazines and fans due to the volume of 14 tracks in favor of being titled as an album. Press Play consists almost exclusively of EDM productions. Collaborations for the EP took place with Martin Garrix, Jewelz & Sparks and Brohug among others, while Ester Dean lent her voice to the song When You're Gone. With the revival of its old style, the song received a lot of positive criticism.
